I wish getting back to my school days!

I wish getting back to my school days.

Momma shouts a thousand times
Before I’m actually out of my bed.
Get ready or you’ll miss your bus,
Shoes, tie, books- all scattered in a mess.
Now these lines no one says,
I wish getting back to my school days.

Teachers were then short and tough,
Eyes popping through their frisky specs.
Some held me close to their hearts,
Coloured my life into beautiful cards.
These colours I use at every place,
I wish getting back to my school days
.
Friends and buddies no words match them,
The whole world is pale without them.
Naughty champs, they always had me laughing.
Everywhere smiles they kept spreading.
For a single thing, they had thousand ways.
I wish getting back to my school days.

Stealing tiffins was easier than robbing hearts,
A girls hello felt like a trophy won.
Freaking exams, but not missing cartoon shows.
Fighting like hell for see-saws and swings.
Now where shall I play again a potato race?
I wish getting back to my school days.

Life back then, just meant playing and studying
And dreaming of dolls and toys.
Parle-G could make us Shaktiman,
Pen caps and whistles were proudest treasures.
So lively these moments, easier to trace,
I wish getting back to my school days.

Awaiting birthdays and demanding gifts,
Running helter-shelter for little toffees.
Mugging up poems and singing rhymes,
Mom was my fairy and Dad was the king.
Even now Twinkle- Twinkle I sing with grace,
I wish getting back to my school days.

P.S.:It’s such a surprise 5 years down the line, I still miss school more than College, and the school buddies, much more.
