ALONG THE MARINE DRIVES
Nothing serves a Mumbaikar
better than Marine Drives.... Hangouts, picnics, long drives, romance and more
fun. Who wouldn't love a cool breeze with no fears and worries!
I am pakki Mumbaikar, and
here goes my ode to Mumbai's paradise- Marine Drives!
ALONG THE MARINE DRIVES
There, the sea’s never calm,
The wind, it never blows, it
flies,
And seem to play ‘Ringa-roses’,
That’s the Mumbaikars’ love,
We like to call it ‘Marine Lines’.
Every lover’s paradise,
Every proposer’s stage,
Every teenager’s getaway,
The marvels, the wonders, the
tricks,
It has it all,
Where I and flee my friends away,
For a nice birthday bash!
The waters bounce to welcome us,
And we greet them with our
cameras,
Picturing the vivid natural
beauty,
The rocks, on which we climb and
descent,
Dazzle like the silent tenants
forever.
Oh! The sandy-salty waters,
How eager they are to touch our
feet,
Pushing everyone over each other,
And wetting us almost fully,
Man, we’re fighting to get
ourselves,
Into the photos that the cameras
took.
And when the water-masti is over,
Our legs walk a bit more farther,
Nearer the Girgaum Chawpati.
And our hunger wakes up by now,
Making its way to various chaat
counters.
Pani-puri, Bhelpuri or the
chana-chaat,
It's not worth to miss them at
all.
Hey! The Golawala gives us an
inviting call,
Yummy Kulfi and delicious cotton
candy,
Did I forget the kalakhatta or the
keri?
This roadside food we are so fond
of,
Never miss to please our eager
tummies.
The day slides down and night
comes,
We bid a huge goodbye
To the massive buildings and busy
roads,
Also our lovely shore,
Which is now called the Queen’s
Necklace.
Needless to say, we’ll come back,
To this Mumbaikar’s love,
We call it Marine Drives.!!!!
