A tangent to two horizons

They were two different people, in two different spaces. He would have always been an alien to her had it not been for him breaking the ice. The mountains have witnessed their first meet, two adventurists with a goal to summit the mighty range. As the climb steadied, their stranger talks revealed more secrets than they could have themselves known. For once, even strangers felt at home. Love was still nowhere in the list and neither did they want to taint the beginning of a wonderful friendship with the complications of love.

The chills of the night were replaced by warmth of their talks. The list was endless and only sleep could make them stop. No wonders the morning held more anticipation and excitement. While the path until yesterday looked beautiful, it seemed heavenly as they climbed rocks, walked through forests, crossed streams and marched in the snow. It's a miracle how your high spirits lift up the merriness in the entire world you see. When they summited, they exchanged a wide smile that said everything felt right and perfect. Himalayas to Mumbai was a journey they never wanted to end but once back home, they were so engaged in each other that a distance of 60 kms made no difference. Togetherness could indeed be found on phone and WhatsApp.

Getting back home meant getting back to work too. The adventurers knew the wanderers in each other but professional introduction was somehow seldom touched upon. She was into Finance while he was an Engineer. While she immersed herself in budgets and travelled across the Excel sheets and SAP, he buried himself in AutoCAD. Reports and Analytics took over the WhatsApp chats and nights triggered early sleep. She worked 9-7 while he would sometimes be required on-site at as early as 4am. Post Financial year ends, she found all her weekends at work while he looked forward to meeting her to on a Sunday. He would make plans for the weekends on the preceding Mondays while she remained undecided till Fridays. She worked on numbers, he on machines. While she struggled with Budgets and Projects, he competed with theories. Work kept them miles away, lunch brought them to hear each other's smiles.

Only he knew how much he wanted to tally her Balance Sheet. Only she knew how she wanted to be his best developed project ever. Destiny was on its job to bind them together.
